STAGE 21 WINNER: Bawtry Mayflower ... RUNNER UP: Castle Hills

OVERALL WINNER: Bawtry Mayflower... RUNNER UP: Bentley New Village

The 2009 Bike It Virtual Tour de France has reached a fantastic finish. Bawtry Mayflower won the race with 351 points and Bentley New Village came second with 319 points. They both win a show by trialsdisplay.co.uk, the world-class mountain bike trials riding team. The really great news is that the Virtual Tour de France has generated 6,150 cycle journeys to school. Those cycle journeys have:

  • Saved enough climate changing carbon dioxide (compared to going by car) to fill almost 370,000 balloons!

  • Saved a total of over £2500 in fuel costs!

  • Burnt the same number of calories as you'd find in almost 1800 chocolate bars!

  • Traveled enough miles to go three quarters of the way round the world!

The third Bike It Virtual Tour de France ran from June 1st to June 29th and this year was better than ever.

Children from Bike It schools in Doncaster, Sheffield and York took part in their version of the greatest bike race in the world.

Over 21 days children earned points for their school by cycling to school. There were some fabulous prizes up for grabs including bikes, official Tour de France merchandise and a show by world champion trials riders Ben Slinger and Danny Butler.
